Value Analysis Overview
Designed for Performance
Used in complex applications where biologics would be chosen, but without the associated tissue processing costs, GORE® BIO-A® Tissue Reinforcement offers proven performance at considerable economic value.
GORE® BIO-A® Tissue Reinforcement is an innovative technology for soft tissue reinforcement which has changed the surgical mesh landscape to include a new category, called Biosynthetics. This synthetically made product is designed to perform in complex procedures where biologics have been used; it is not human or animal tissue derived.
GORE® BIO-A® Tissue Reinforcement is the first 3D Biosynthetic mesh, so named for its construct of polymers, poly (glycolide: trimethylene carbonate) copolymer (PGA:TMC), which are completely absorbed over six to seven months, leaving no mesh material behind in the body.
GORE® BIO-A® Tissue Reinforcement was created with optimal porosity for rapid cellular infiltration and vascularization to generate quality tissue fast.
Repair with Confidence
What does it replace?
GORE® BIO-A® Tissue Reinforcement is designed for performance as suture line reinforcement in complex hernia cases where biologics have been used.
What kind of applications?
GORE® BIO-A® Tissue Reinforcement is intended for soft tissue reinforcement. Hospital surgical departments, including general surgery, trauma, and plastics find value in the technology and some common applications include:
- Paraesophageal / hiatal hernia repair
- Abdominal wall reconstruction
- Ventral / incisional hernia repair
