Guidelines on social responsibility

We are committed to conducting our business with integrity, both legally and ethically. Our guidelines on social responsibility (“Guidelines”) are consistent with industry-specific requirements and practices, such as the Fair Labor Association Workplace Code of Conduct, and based on International Labor Organization (ILO) standards, the United Nations (UN) Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Convention on Children’s Rights, the UN Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, the UN Global Compact and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

We fully support efforts to eliminate forced labor and human trafficking. Everyone in our enterprise is expected to demonstrate integrity in all relationships when dealing with suppliers, customers and stakeholders, as well as with other Gore Associates. We strive to be good stewards of air, water and energy resources and in our management of waste. It is our responsibility as a company and as individuals. In all of our efforts, we will take a holistic approach that considers both the short- and long-term implications of our decisions and the prosperity of future generations.

In October 2019, we became a member of the Healthcare Plastics Recycling Council (HPRC) — a group dedicated to inspiring and enabling plastic recycling solutions in healthcare. The council’s mission is to collaborate across the value chain of the healthcare system — from the manufacture of medical devices to the recycling process of hospital waste — to enable the implementation of viable, safe and cost-effective recycling solutions for plastics products and packaging.

Environmental responsibility

As a company and as individuals, we are committed to achieving a positive economic impact while being environmentally responsible. We search for scientific-based solutions that guide our actions.

The company’s expectation is that the value of its innovations is greater than the environmental and social impact of its products and operations. Toward that end, Gore is setting its first carbon reduction goal, reducing facility-related carbon emissions by 60 percent no later than 2030, and working toward carbon neutrality by 2050.

At Gore, we have an ongoing commitment to meet all applicable health, safety and environmental regulations and standards. We carefully consider the effects of our products and operations on the environment, as well as on the health and well-being of people. 

Electronic Instructions for Use

Our commitment to sustainability leads us to seek every opportunity to reduce waste. As printed Instructions for Use (IFU) result in use of large volumes of paper, we are in the process of becoming completely "paperless" with conversion to eIFUs in the near future.
