W. L. Gore & Associates invests in Flagstaff STEM educational programs
As a member of the Arizona Community Foundation of Flagstaff (“ACF of Flag”), W. L. Gore & Associates proudly participates in the power of collaboration to help more people than we could accomplish alone. The ACF of Flag is a family of charitable funds which manages an annual competitive grants process that provides funding for non-profit organizations serving the Flagstaff area.
Through Gore’s annual Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) educational grants, we invest in Flagstaff K-12, hands-on educational experiences that further Arizona students’ awareness and interest in STEM.
Through the 2017 annual giving cycle, $1.3 million was awarded by 14 community funding collaborators and foundations. Gore provided grant funding in varying amounts to the following programs:
Arboretum at Flagstaff: For its K-12 Experiential Education Program, a place-based STEM learning program that includes on-site and in classroom science education programs and fund scholarships for summer camps
Friends of Camp Colton: For the creation of an experiential outdoor program with STEM integration for lower elementary students
Grand Canyon Youth: For youth participation in outdoor experiences
International Raptor & Falconry Center: For the acquisition of additional educational birds to enhance the Raptors Rock! in-classroom science education programs
