Flagstaff, Ariz. (November 17, 2015) — W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. (Gore) today announced in conjunction with its 40th anniversary, it has sold 40 million devices worldwide. The milestones come as the company showcases its latest innovations and achievements for the vascular community at the 2015 VEITHsymposium® in New York.
The medical products division of Gore was formed by Bill Gore with the intent to design an ideal substitute for a human blood vessel using GORE-TEX® ePTFE. Forty years later, Gore is an industry leader in medical devices with more than 40 million devices sold that are designed to treat patients along the entire length of the body.
At VEITHsymposium 2015, Gore is announcing developments to its diverse portfolio of products, including clinical trial developments, as well kicking off the highly anticipated nominations for the 2016-2017 Pioneers in Performance award.
- The GORE® EXCLUDER® Iliac Branch Endoprosthesis has exceeded 1,000 implants worldwide. This milestone comes only two years after the device received the CE Mark in Europe. The device is currently commercially available in Europe and Australia, in clinical trial in the US, and available through special access in Canada.
- Gore celebrates its 6th year of the Pioneers in Performance Awards by continuing its tradition of honoring physicians responsible for driving medical innovation and improving clinical and patient outcomes. The Pioneers in Performance Awards recognize physicians for their commitment to advancing vascular and endovascular therapy and minimally invasive treatment options for patients across the globe. These specialties include aortic and lower-limb bypass, and dialysis access surgery. The nominees will be announced on Tuesday evening and voting for the 2016 Pioneers in Performance Awards for North America will open beginning on Wednesday, November 18, 2015.
- Global vascular thought leaders will reconvene this week at VEITH for an update on the inaugural Gore-sponsored Surgical Bypass Summit. The group is challenging historic beliefs about surgical bypass and whether there needs to be a change in the current treatment paradigm. Content from the inaugural Surgical Bypass Summit is available at www.surgicalbypass.com.
Gore looks towards the future, continuing to improve lives through advanced materials and delivering meaningful innovations that set the standard of performance.
